"Gold Star Mothers" is a charity and Support Group for mothers who have lost a son or daughter in the conflict in the Middle East. Moms who have sons or daughters currently serving in the military are called "Blue Star Moms".
Tom Holder is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran (1967 - 1973) from the Vietnam era. As a tribute to these Gold Star Moms and their "Fallen Heroes", Tom has designed and builds a special "fused glass" American Flag plate embellished with a gold star. The goal is to send every Gold Star Mom a plate for free. Each plate costs about $22.00 in materials to build.
Koi Care Kennel, Inc. is sponsoring the cost in materials of the first 100 plates being built. Tom Holder is donating his time and labor in building every plate being given away. It is a privilege to be able to honor the Gold Star Moms in this way. They are thrilled and so appreciative when they receive them. At the bottom of this page are some of emails and cards we have received from the Gold Star Moms after they have received their plate.
